Using the state to persecute traditional religious believers for their views on marriage and sex, in a case from Finland — but the idea that writing in favor of these beliefs should be considered a hate crime is cropping up in progressives circles elsewhere, including in the U.S. and U.K.

    Hmmmm, avowed Christians being treated the same way that avowed Christians have treated gay people and other unpopular minorities for centuries. St Paul told the Galatians “You reap whatever you sow.”

      I fail to see the relevance. A Finnish priest in 2021 does not bear responsibility for the homophobia of centuries ago. He bears responsibility for his own conduct, today. No more and no less.

      I don’t know why I even gave your comment any politeness at all. It’s rank bigotry and should be condemned or ignored.

        He is not responsible for past homophobia but for his own now. The cleric should read the Bible honestly and not with the blinders and bias of false tradition.
        FWIW I was raised LC-MS.
        It’s not “rank bigotry” but a mirror. Having said that I don’t think he should be indicted or penalized; that’s God’s job.
