    Uh, huh. Why?

Intersectionality is an academic theory that argues that class, race, sexual orientation and gender do not exist separately from each other, but are interwoven in complex patterns, and that the relationships between class, race, sexual orientation and gender are essential to understanding the human condition.

Proponents of the academic theory argue that the intersectional framework can be used to understand systemic injustice and social inequality, arguing that racism, sexism, classism, ableism, homophobia, transphobia, xenophobia, and religious or other belief-based bigotry and persecution do not act independently of each other but instead interrelate, creating a system of oppression that reflects the “intersection” of multiple forms of discrimination.

Manning doesn’t strike me as an intersectional poster child, but whatever. I guess she makes good fodder for homocons out to demonstrate that they can use the latest buzzwords, however ineptly.

The only thing I can think of is that as a transgender person she’s low enough on the totem pole to claim the most privilege of being oppressed.

Now, that trick works, but it’s a bit too little, too late to turn that into political office, at least for a while. Caitlyn Jenner managed to douse most of the transgender privilege off her own political isolation.

Not no way in tarnation should Manning be seated in the Senate. I work for a defense contractor and am well aware of Senators sometimes needing access to classified documents. However noble her intentions, she is not to be trusted with ANY sensitive information. What committee would have her? She’s a long shot anyway.

      Dead right.

Not that it makes any practical difference, since Manning hasn’t a prayer in hell of winning the Democratic primary** and she has even less chance of raising the $10-15 million needed to run a viable campaign in the general election.

** The incumbent, Democrat Ben Cardin is running, and while he’s no great shakes, Elijah Cummings and/or John Sarbanes look like they might come into the race if Cardin looks like he’s might go down to a Republican in the general.

Frankly, most progressives that I know in the State – including some transgender people – are not terribly excited about this primary candidate. Their are other candidates, including transgender candidates, worth of our support.

The incumbent Senator has a good record on LGBT rights. If Chelsea is serious about public service, she would probably volunteered for a local campaign, gotten staff experience and then maybe run for something local.
I be surprised if someone hasn’t made a similar suggestion to her already.

    Yeah, some freaking hero:

“In May of 2010 Bradley Manning, who now identifies as a woman named Chelsea and who was recently released from prison, struck his female superior, Jihrleah Showman, leaving a welt on her face. According to Showman, “He had punched me in the face, unprovoked, and displayed an uncontrollable behavior that was deemed untrustworthy at the time.” This incident is reported to be one of several violent outbursts which led to Manning’s demotion from Specialist to Private.

According to chat logs from conversations with former hacker Adrian Lamo, who later turned Manning in:

    (01:45:18 PM) bradass87: i punched a dyke in the phace…

    (01:45:22 PM) info@adrianlamo.com: lol

(01:45:43 PM) bradass87: half the S2 shop was at least bi

    (01:45:57 PM) info@adrianlamo.com: you know this personal-like? ; )

(01:46:05 PM) bradass87: it was all female

    (01:46:10 PM) info@adrianlamo.com: ah

(01:46:46 PM) bradass87: i got sick of these dykes and their drama… it was worse than “The L Word”…

The ACLU conveniently excludes these details from Manning’s case timeline.”
