Not So Friendly Inquisitors

Via Reason: The Office of Inclusive Excellence Sounds Like a Cult.

Milo’s grandstanding is open to criticism, but his progressive denouncers are ridiculous caricatures. Progressive thought-controllers are no different from religious right inquisitors.

Also on the subject of our friendly Social Justice Warriors, blogger Rebecca de Winter on “the hilarious irony of a movement that claims ‘gender is a social construct’ while at the same time belittling males in particular at every turn.”

Also try reconciling the feminist “gender is a social construct” meme with transgender rights activism. But when have activists let intellectual consistency get in the way.

More. Progressives believe, Free speech for me, violence for thee.

Its good to see that IGF can parody itself, however inadvertently.

Ad hominen insults of a blogger immediately clue me in that the commenter has no serious argument to make.

“Ad hominem insults. . . “. You must be referring to Trump.

Milo has carved out quite a niche for himself as the queer lapdog of the anti-gay right. I hope they are paying him well. I find him revolting. It’s as if he’s parodying every gay stereotype: vain, shallow, bitchy, promiscuous, etc.

Yes, there are a some abuses on the right, every one of them with a corresponding (and far more widespread) abuse on the right about which he is silent. This is performance art, not commentary and shouldn’t be taken seriously by serious people.

Yes – the Steppin’ Fetchit of a new gay generation…

I don’t get the right’s fascination with Milo. As far as I can tell, he’s just another self-indulgent, self-absorbed, self-promoting twit. I wouldn’t call what he does “performance art” — he’s just another huckster who has discovered that saying provocative things for the sake of saying them gets him noticed in another news cycle.

He’s everything they think gay people are and happy to serve as their “useful idiot”. He’ll take all the abuse the heap on him too. What’s not to love. Oh, it’s sick but so are they (and so is he).

I used to listen to Dave Rubin’s podcast, but when he had on Milo for a second time I stopped. Once was enough.

Seems to me more like that campus admin is a sheep than a dictator.

I expect more neutrality. Have an opinion, sure, but a respect for diversity in any place with more than 300 people requires that a leader not be so blatant about it

This is performance art, not commentary and shouldn’t be taken seriously by serious people.

Art is taken seriously by serious people precisely because it makes divisive commentary in a way that is less threatening.

I didn’t mean to equate Milo’s dickery with actual art.

My point was that it was an act. Showing up with prostitutes at events, attacks on women, and all the rest. It’s calculated to get a response just as Ann Coulter, Camille LaPaglia and others do. It’s of no serious value to be sure.

Well, that’s what you wound up doing. Perhaps you should reconsider your position. The opposition needs some kind of figurehead.

Any chance Stephen will address the Texas GOP platform?

    Here are some highlights:

    https://www.texasgop.org/wp-co

79 Family and Defense of Marriage- We support the definition of marriage as a God-ordained, legal and moral commitment only between one natural man and one natural woman.

§ We support withholding jurisdiction from the federal courts in cases involving family law, especially any changes in the definition of marriage.

§ We shall not recognize or grant to any unmarried person the legal rights or status of a spouse, including granting benefits by political subdivisions.

§ We urge the legislature to rescind no-fault divorce laws and support covenant marriage.

80 Overturning Obergefell v. Hodges- We believe this decision, overturning the Texas law prohibiting same sex marriage in Texas, has no basis in the Constitution and should be reversed, returning jurisdiction over the definition of marriage to the states. The Governor and other elected officials of the state of Texas should assert our Tenth Amendment right and reject the Supreme Court ruling.

I doubt it. It is pretty standard Republican fare, like Corn Dogs.
