Kids Today

LGBTQ teens reject describing themselves as gay or lesbian (that is, as actually homosexual). I wonder how much of this is a trendy and politically correct expression of old-fashioned internalized homophobia.

For the Children

There seems to be more willingness across the pond for LGB people to challenge the now-prevalent activist view that nonstereotypical “effeminate” boys and “masculine” girls should be considered transgender rather than potentially gay or lesbian, and at increasingly early ages started down the road of transitioning.

Off Narrative, Again

Trump’s U.N. speech called for respecting religious freedom and, “in solidarity with LGBTQ people,” decriminalizing homosexuality.

President Trump: “We affirm the right of all people to live in dignity. For this reason my administration is working with other nations to stop criminalizing of homosexuality and we stand in solidarity with LGBTQ people who live in countries that punish, jail or execute individuals based upon sexual orientation.”

The Bumatay Nomination

The Washington Blade, an LGBT paper, and the conservative Washington Times both suggest (the latter more explicitly so) that Democratic opposition to Trump’s nomination of Patrick Bumatay, a gay Filipino who serves as a U.S. attorney in Southern California, to serve on the U.S. Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals is all about politics.

The Democrats’ Forum

I confess, I didn’t watch it. But knowing GLAAD and how it operates as a driver of political conformity around Democratic talking points and the trendiest gender theories to sprout from academia, I’m not surprised by the reports below.

I am surprised, however, at the lack of major media coverage. It’s almost as if the mainstream media is covering for the candidates, who can tell LGBTQ activists everything they want to hear, but not spook the public by spotlighting this pandering.

When cultural elites insists that everyone swear fealty to ridiculous ideas

Sullivan further writes:
I don’t have children, but I sure worry about gay kids in this context. I remember being taunted by some other kids when I was young — they suggested that because I was mildly gender-nonconforming, I must be a girl. If my teachers and parents and doctors had adopted this new ideology, I might never have found the happiness of being gay and comfort in being male. How many gay kids, I wonder, are now being led into permanent physical damage or surgery that may be life-saving for many, but catastrophic for others, who come to realize they made a mistake. And what are gay adults doing to protect them? Nothing. Only a few ornery feminists, God bless them, are querying this.

In some ways, the extremism of the new transgender ideology also risks becoming homophobic. Instead of seeing effeminate men as one kind of masculinity, as legitimate as any other, transgenderism insists that girliness requires being a biological girl. Similarly, a tomboy is not allowed to expand the bandwidth of what being female can mean, but must be put into the category of male. In my view, this is not progressive; it’s deeply regressive. There’s a reason why Iran is a world leader in sex-reassignment surgery, and why the mullahs pay for it. Homosexuality in Iran is so anathema that gay boys must be turned into girls, and lesbian girls into boys, to conform to heterosexual norms. Sound a little too familiar?

Donor Entitlement Enabled Evil

From the Washington Post:
Prominent Democratic donor and LGBT activist Ed Buck has been charged with running a drug house after a man overdosed last week at his West Hollywood home, the third overdose there since 2017…. Buck, a former fashion model and well-known LGBT activist in Los Angeles, has donated thousands to Democrats including Barack Obama, Hillary Clinton and Rep. Ted Lieu (Calif.)…. In the first case, 26-year-old Gemmel Moore died of a methamphetamine overdose in Buck’s apartment in July 2017. He was found naked on a mattress in the living room with syringes, sex toys and other drug paraphernalia nearby. …In his journal, the Los Angeles Times reported, Moore appeared to write: “I’ve become addicted to drugs and the worst one at that. Ed Buck is the one to thank. He gave me my first injection of chrystal meth.” … The second man died six months later, in January 2019. … Outrage exploded over the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office’s previous decision to decline to charge Buck.
And from the Los Angeles Times:
Moore’s mother, LaTisha Nixon of Texas, has questioned whether Buck’s ties to elected officials and differences in race and class influenced the investigation. Buck, who is 65 and white, is a longtime political donor, onetime West Hollywood City Council candidate and a well-known figure in LGBTQ political circles. Moore had been homeless and had worked as an escort. …
“We’re just completely ecstatic,” [said Jasmyne Cannick, a political consultant and spokeswoman for Moore’s mother]. “Black gay men’s lives matter. The whole black LGBT community is going to be celebrating this evening because our lives matter, and people need to know that. Even if we’re sex workers, even if we’re on drugs, even if we’re homeless, we’re still part of the black community, still part of the LGBT community.”
