Just a reminder: Under the Islamic Republic’s penal code, sexual relations between people of the same sex are illegal and strictly punished by imprisonment, corporal punishment, or execution. But there is a legal and socially approved option for homosexuals: they can undergo state-sanctioned sex-reassignment surgery to avoid persecution.
