    Very poor argument. You go from pointing out a factual contradiction in the picture, whether the same action has a positive or negative reputation, and then make a claim about the actual consequences of those actions. But, whether one emphasizes the difference in palliative or detrimental effects, it is nearly undisputed that the consequences of conversion therapy and of gender affirming care are very different from each other. The benefit of conversion therapy does not exist, and its detrimental effect is the very nature of it being snake oil. The benefit of gender affirming care is that it treats symptoms of distress and poor social and occupational functioning, and its detrimental effect is that it doesn’t (snake oil) while potentially having permanent physiological consequences
