There’s some interesting back and forth at not gay friendly National Review Online on why young conservatives seem much more proud to be pro-life than to be anti same-sex marriage. Here’s the third or so take: Re: Life vs. Marriage.
Young, Conservative, Anti-Gay, Forever?

Best indication on this is the advance of medical science of reproduction as well as people’s awareness of many measures that they can “choose”. It’s not at all surprising that young people realize that it is not too difficult to prevent unwanted pregnancy. It only takes a very small effort for the most part. On the other hand, they have also learn that sexual orientation isn’t something that they can voluntarily choose – reflected on their own.
I am waiting for the day when women will finally freed from pregnancy and childbirth. (i.e. no longer women need to carry fetuses in their wombs) Religious conservatives will have a tough time to find a issue to fight. (though they WILL find something) There is a reason why religious factions are against the development in medical science in this area.

The National Review is engaged is gross dishonesty. The right doesn’t oppose same-sex marriage. They oppose gay rights in general and ANY partnership rights.
They’re just too cowardly to talk about their opposition to civil unions.
