Isaiah Washington wins an NAACP Image Award! Washington, of "Grey's Anatomy" infamy, originally called co-star T.R. Knight a "little faggot," and then at the Golden Globes denied doing so while managing again to deploy the "F" word.
No sign of protest from HRC and friends about their liberal allies, though TMZ.com suggests that perhaps now Michael Richards should receive a GLAAD Award, and Queer Sighted isn't very happy, either.
But then I guess GLAAD has just been too busy condemning gay drag queens for their supposed racial insensitivity!

The NAACP is socially and culturally irrelivant at this point in history. Who cares what they say or think? Ask any black person in this country about the NAACP and they will say the same thing “who cares!”

The NAACP is highly influential in the liberal media, and they claim to be gay friendly. So ignoring them it’s not an option.
Frankly, I’m not surprised. If Washington was white and republican, the media would be going crazy. But alas, he’s black, so he gets a pass.
Of course, Ann Coulter never gets a pass.

I am not a huge fan of today’s NAACP, but this article is cutesy and corner-cutting, to say the least.
GLAAD is not going around condemning all kinds of “racially insensitive drag queens”. They issued one press release about a man who WEARS BLACKFACE.
NAACP has always been supportive of the gay community, including opposing the various gay marriage/civil union/partnership bans that many in the black community support.
I wish they had not given an award to Isaiah Washington, but he did apologize and went to rehab for what he said.
This just seems so nitpicky to me, like trying to score a point. There’s so much going on out there now.

The reality is that the NAACP doesn’t care if you’re homophobic. Even Farrakhan has gotten an award.

Ditto what Carl said: They’re raising an issue over one drag queen who’s trying to resurrect the Minstral Show as humor.
“I sincerely regret my actions and the unfortunate use of words during the recent incident on-set,” Washington, 43, says in the statement. “Both are beneath my own personal standards. ? I have nothing but respect for my coworkers ? and have apologized personally to everyone involved.” (People Magazine). Has a certain blonde viper issued anything similar?
And what is Michael’s connection to the gay community that GLAAD would consider him for an award in the firt place?

Simply put, this action qualifies for the NAACP being listed under the words “outrageous” and “hypocritical” in the dictionary.
This action crystallizes what the NAACP really is — an organization of liberal, Clinton-excusing, Democratic hypocrites. Perhaps they’ll give an image award to Robert Byrd at their next little shindig? It wouldn’t surprise me in the least. After all, just like Clinton, and now, apparently, Isaiah Washington, he’s “one of them.”
At least I haven’t seen any Republican organizations giving Ann Coulter any awards . . .

Ah, yet more feel-good manufactured outrage about stupid words that pseudo-celebs are saying. Meanwhile, gay families and individuals continue to be targeted by anti-gay laws, unfair tax treatment, and an immigration system that splits up entire families.
Targeting those areas — and the old parties who built and support the present system — is “single-issue narrow-mindedness.”
But getting in arms over the latest naughty word or meaningless award at a black-tie event? Mandatory.

Can we talk about Matt Sanchez? He’s a Marine reservist who has gone on Fox News to speak for the conservative cause, and he has gotten an award from CPAC, etc. He turned out to be a former gay porn star. Yet he not only says that he’s straight, he has also made anti-gay comments like this:
“There’s something about the beleaguered gay psyche that wants to prove to the world that everyone is just as messed up as they are. So, they start off with the term hypocrite and work their way backwards looking for signs of deviant behavior in hopes of discovering some type of bastard kinship.”

Isn’t it just pathetic that this man – who supports anti-gay pundits, an anti-gay party, and makes ugly anti-gay comments himself – is allowed all kinds of military benefits?
Can you imagine the hypocrisy of the GOP lecturing on family values, on this man lecturing on values and making anti-gay comments, after he lived off of gay porn for years and years?

Two decades ago, anyone in my employ who was contemtuous of another, for whatever reason, was “excused” for intolerance in the workplace. Apparently, special pleading fallacies exempt some from this rule. Black, white, gay, asexual, or whatever would never have been indulged such license. Washington would have been FIRED for his intolerance, and denied unemployment to boot. Today, double-standard apply to SOME, but not to OTHERS. NOT in my management, they would not. Welcome to the WORLD of illiberalism. Welcome to intolerance. Welcome to double-standards I thought we overcame two or more decades ago. Political correctness ALLOWS this double-standard, but I would not. Silly liberal that I am. No one is liberal, we’re all politically-incorrect, and “better” fot it. ABC will hire you, even if I would not. Ain’t exemption of special pleaders too cool? I don’t think so.

Carl You must read Sanchez’s response to this controversy on Salon.com. It’s priceless.
He claims his conservatism came about from his porn days. Quote: “I didn’t like porn’s liberalism. In porn, everything taboo is trivialized and everything trivial is magnified.”
Huh? This is a guy that got paid bucks to make fuck films, and he is shocked — shocked — that the industry is rather liberal about things he considers “taboo.” What things could those possibly be? Sex? It’s like the stripper who complains that no one takes her dancing skills seriously when she’s gyrating up and down on a pole in pasties.
Even more ironic is how Sanchez is now friends with the very party against gay marriage, adoption and gays in the military. Hmm. Maybe Sean Hannity can explain that to him.

I saw that, Marc. I think he has some serious self-loathing issues. He has said people who complain about Coulter are having “hissyfits”, has said gays are “deviants”, and defensively told Joe My God that he has had “Boyfriends 0 Wives 1 Girlfriends 2” so therefore he must be straight. Andy Towle at Towleroad says he dated Matt, and I doubt Andy would lie.
This guy seems to really hate gays, to hate himself, and that’s why he is a big Republican now.
I wonder if those like many at Gaypatriot who are trying to make a martyr out of him will feel the same when he starts trashing gays more and more blatantly.

I read that interview, too, and you are exactly right: He does have serious issues with his past, and also with those of us who don’t believe that it is really in his “past.” Instead, he attacks gays for finding the hypocrisy of it all: “There’s something about the beleaguered gay psyche that wants to prove to the world that everyone is just as messed up as they are. So, they start off with the term hypocrite and work their way backwards looking for signs of deviant behavior in hopes of discovering some type of bastard kinship.”
Bastard kinship? Some great rhetoric, but what the hell is he talking about? I am only going to assume that he enrolled in the same 3-week course that turned Ted Haggard “heterosexual,” and that he has just asked for an increase on an advance for the book he is hawking. (And is that another form of gay for pay? At least the only people he has to screw this time are the ones naive enough to actually buy it.)

You know, I was compelled to look at Matt Sanchez’s oeuvre. In films such as Montreal Men and Idol Country, he cuts an attractive figure, looking very much like Barack Obama. Anyone notice that? No wonder Louis Farrakhan couldn’t help calling him “A Beautiful Young Man”.
Despite what he says about being “bad at being gay”, he is gay.
I could tell that before his porn-past cover was blown just by watching him on O’Reilly. Bill O. must have wondered what’s up.
It is sad that he has to seek approval from the strictest moralists who will receive him, disvaluing the “liberals” who never stood in judgment of his real self.

What exactly is “anti-gay”, Carl?
After all, you and your fellow Dems don’t think this is antigay.
You sure as hell don’t think this is antigay.
And, as Instapundit once pointed out, those are just two of many other examples.
My particular favorite is what happens when a Dem calls gays “filthy” — as in this case.
The reason you attack Sanchez, Carl and Marc, is because you can’t deal with the fact that the party and candidates you support and call “pro-gay” are in fact proudly bragging that they have the “same position” as Republicans — a position which you call hateful and homophobic.
And as far as making “anti-gay statements”, I think gay leftists and Democrats, who regularly namecall gay conservatives as “self-loathing” and “Jewish Nazis”, plus tell them to commit suicide, need to take a look in the mirror first.

There’s something profoundly ironic in a individual who was apparently addicted to acting in porn turning around and attacking the perceived “messed-up-ness” of others.
Takes one to know one, I s’pose.

GLAAD was right about a white person putting on blackface paint. It is racist. Period. To suggest that it is just p.c. bitchness shows just how some people on the right never paid attention in American history class.
I am not sure what the HRC should do. It is not a federal legislation issue, which is the organizations focus. Has the Log Cabin Republicans or the Outright Libertarians made a peep about this?
Also, Washington did not get a pass. He got into quite a bit of trouble and saved his job by going into rehab and basically promising not to do it again.
….although it looks like Paris Hilton did.

Saying that gays are “deviants”. Saying that gays are all self-loathing.
Do you think it was OK for him to call you a deviant, NDT? That’s how he sees you, and me, and all other homosexuals, even though he had no problem making money off of “deviants” for years.

Carl, you really, really should read the quote in question.
It’s funny you ask this question. There’s something about the beleaguered gay psyche that wants to prove to the world that everyone is just as messed up as they are. So, they start off with the term hypocrite and work their way backwards looking for signs of deviant behavior in hopes of discovering some type of bastard kinship. That’s why I’ve had the term self-loathing thrown at me so often. The gay community eats its own in a frenzied hope of self-serving fulfillment.
Key points:
1. It is GAYS who are combing through peoples’ pasts looking for “deviant behaviors”
2. It is GAYS who are calling other people “self-loathing”.
I had to laugh when you babbled that calling someone “self-loathing” was antigay. If I had a nickel for every time another gay person called me that, I could afford to buy Switzerland.
And quite honestly, Carl, I have a hard time getting upset over Sanchez “making money off gay people” when gay people dropped tens of millions of dollars on antigay politicians in the last election cycle.

So if you don’t get upset with Sanchez, then why are you so upset with gays who give money to anti-gay politicians? You have complained about them over and over. Now do you support them, all because of Matt Sanchez?

1. It is GAYS-
No it isn’t. Not all gays. Some gays have decided to point out he used to do gay porn. He essentially calls all gays self-loathing.
Do you hate yourself? Do you support someone who says you are a deviant?
That’s the bottom line. He thinks that we – you and me and all other gays – are self-loathing deviants.

No, it’s *some* gays who are doing it. It’s not unique to either liberals or conservatives — both do it and condemn their opponents for foibles they themselves have. Witness Gingrich’s revelation that he was banging his own secretary at the same time he was attacking Bill Clinton for cheating on his wife.
I find these endless “values” debates to be soooooooo tedious. Frankly, if North Dallas Thirty and ETJB were to make a porn film involving whips, chains and Hershey’s Syrup, I wouldn’t care — it wouldn’t change my opinion of the relative (lack of) merits of various positions of theirs in the slightest.
Then again, I don’t revel in smearing the *individual* as opposed to critiquing his ideas.
In a Republicrat and Demopublican climate that gave us Rush Limbaugh, Ann Coulter, James Carville, Dick Morris, and Al Franken, it’s rich for either side of the two-headed dragon to condemn the other head for the politics of personal destruction.

Carl, the “bottom line” here is that you inadvertently, through your insane insistence on twisting Sanchez’s words, are demonstrating that your fantasy of victimization is more important to you than the reality of what he is saying — which is, ironically, Sanchez’s EXACT point.
So if you don’t get upset with Sanchez, then why are you so upset with gays who give money to anti-gay politicians? You have complained about them over and over. Now do you support them, all because of Matt Sanchez?
People who gave Matt Sanchez money got for what they paid, which was to see him naked.
Gays who give money to homophobes like John Kerry were swindled and got the reverse of for what they paid.
Do you hate yourself? Do you support someone who says you are a deviant?
I FULLY support Sanchez and his statement — because I too have been called “self-loathing” by gay leftists and told by them to commit suicide, just as he has been.

Sanchez’s point seemed to be how awful he thought it was that gays assumed he was also gay – ie, deviant and self-loathing, just like them.

LOL Northdallass, if anyone’s doing insane twisting its you. Only in your twisted mind is calling gays “deviants” and “messed up” not anti-gay. Its pretty hypocritical of you to say you fully support such statements and then whine about being called self-loathing. And speaking of whining, you’re still whining about being told to kill yourself – what makes you think gays should be any less upset about being condemned by Christians than you are being told to kill yourself?

LOL….because gays like you, Randi, say it SHOULDN’T bother me.
And that exposes your hypocrisy, Randi; you scream bloody murder over other people supposedly insulting you, but whine and cry about how it shouldn’t bother THEM when YOU attack them.
What if he did mean that homosexuality itself was deviant? Would that also be justified?
Carl, gays like ColoradoPatriot and Randi claim that their homosexuality requires them to hate religion and tell other gays to commit suicide because they disagree with them. You and John Aravosis insist that being gay requires you to vote Democrat. Other gays insist that being gay allows them to have sex in public steam rooms.
That’s pretty deviant, in my opinion. I can’t think of another so-called “biological condition” that so greatly affects one’s life, values, and practices.
What I can’t figure out is this; my homosexuality doesn’t require me to vote a certain way, pray a certain way, hate a certain way, or tell other people to kill themselves. Yet I’m surrounded by gays who tell me it does.
So I guess it depends. If you define “homosexuality” the way that I do, it’s not deviant at all. But if you define it as the life-controlling thing that most gays, yourself included do, I think it IS pretty deviant.

Back to Isaiah Washington: GLAAD’s attack, labeling drag queen Shirley Q. Liquor (a white guy who portrays a black woman) as "racist," was meant to win brownie points from groups such as the NAACP. Now the NAACP has shown that it finds homophobia among it’s black heroes perfectly acceptable. The lesson: let’s fight our own battles for gay equality/respect and not devote resources to trying in vain to please and appease every constituency on the left!

This is one of those things which I feel pressure to support and which I completely, utterly, and absolutely loathe.

When a white person puts on blackface and pretends to be a sterotypical African American; it is racist pure and simply.
Anyone who has a basic knowledge of American history would know that. This is part of a legeacy of deeply, racist entertainment that was once very, very popular in America and was used to justify racist polices.
Isaiah Washington should know better then to make such comments; as should elected politicans, appointed folk, sports stars, etc. They should all know that we live in a 24/7 news network that cares more about scandel and entertainmenet then news and that if they make a racist/sexist/homophobic/ etc. comment it will not be private.
