CVS Not “Anti-Sex.”

Are drugstores that keep condoms behind the counter in high-crime areas enforcing "puritanism" in an attempt to "stigmatize safe sex"? Is this another sign of "America's terrifyingly conservative climate"? David Boaz says no.

Of course it’s not puritanism — as Boaz rightly explains, they’re trying to strike a balance between revenue and “shrinkage” in higher crime areas.

For once we agree. If a popular item is often shoplifted, putting it behind the counter makes perfect sense. And anyone who is ashamed of ordering condoms needs their head examined.

Agreed with both of the above. Really, one wonders if these people think charging for condoms is “puritanism” and “meant to discourage sex”.

It’s not puritanism for CVS — but exgay activists such as Exodus board member Phil Burress would like very much to make it a case of puritanism. See Ex-Gay Watch.

I live in the suburbs, and most drugstores and supermarkets now keep the condoms AND the popular razor-blade refills behind the counter or at “customer service”. Although a few stores do keep the condoms on the aisle-shelf and just “secure” the razor-blades.

Now, if we could only keep the condoms out of the sewer-systems…..

Can you buy condoms and birth control pills legally and from a reputable company online?
