Once I attended Pride events religiously, but I’ve felt this way for many years.

Clearly. I’ve been reading IGF for about fifteen years now, and I can’t recall a single year in which Pride wasn’t targeted as being offensive for one reason or another. I thought you might have forgotten this year, or maybe gone soft. Good to see you conform to type, even if you are a bit late this year.

Good to see your argument-free glibsmug condescension, which is typical of pseudo-intellectual Regressive Left drones who do not have an original or true thought about anything because if they did they would have left the left behind years ago.

Until Gay Pride is actually about Gay Pride, it will continue to remain a calculatedly cynical embarrassment to the gay and lesbian community. Bad electronic music doesn’t make me proud. Autotuned ninnies who think they can virtue-signal a few bucks out of our community while mocking us behind our backs don’t make me proud. Alcoholism and meth abuse doesn’t make me proud. Barebacking strangers doesn’t make me proud. Embarrassingly retrograde sitcoms that reinforce every negative stereotype in the book while taking some of the most idiotic, self-righteous, and contradictory political stances in history don’t make me proud. Being openly gay does not require you to take an all-or-nothing view of morality.

Rainbow flags reading “Make America Gay Again” openly mock President Trump’s signature slogan, and ignore the obvious reality that America has never been more gay-friendly than it is in 2018.

    Uh, yeah. Three things.

First, not even I believe that last is “obvious”, although I can’t convince myself it’s false.

Second, conjuring up a nationally recognized partisan like “Make America Great Again” by tweaking it with slightly different wording is not a partisan tell. Ive done it, and it was hardly the Trump administration I was making fun of.

Finally, that whole diatribe appears to carry the message that “gaying” something is somehow scandalous. I don’t like the smell of it. The idea that gays intentionally shock polite sensibilities with their very self-identification and should be be subjected to hostile social pressure not to is one of the original sins of bigotry that characterizes virtually all anti-LGBT oppression, especially against those who attempt to pass for mainstream. It is the reason why so much self-affirming LGBT sentiment is intentionally shocking to polite sensibilities, and it’s something that has solved more than its fair share of problems even while keeping it more difficult to find ways to say “I’m gay” without appearing to be a social misfit.

The statement strikes me as coming from a self-hating impulse. I do not believe it should be encouraged.

Pride has always been a raucous, raunchy and outrageous celebration. The church ladies among the gay/lesbian crowd, seeking “respectability” above all else, have never approved.

It has been that way as long as I can remember, and Stephen’s annual sniff-sniff has become familiar over the years, not unlike like the somewhat embarrassing old great uncle who can be relied on to make a fuss about the way young ladies dress these days every Thanksgiving, year after year.

I don’t take any of it seriously.

And thus you are responsible for diluting the Gay in Gay Pride. Stephen is right. This behavior is embarrassing. We should be focusing on trying to destroy countries that ban homosexuality.

Anti-el-jibbity IS pro-gay, don’t you get it. They don’t really care about our rights. Do you know why? If gays get full equality everywhere on Earth, that means activists who aren’t qualified to do anything else are out of work, and Big Pharma quacks cynically trying to profit off gay self-hatred by promoting self-mutilation in the name of heterosexual supremacy will also see their profits dry up when people decide to just dress the way they like to dress without destroying their bodies to do so.

He’s tired of gays being represented by the worst of us, and I find it hard to disagree with him. I resent the association of homosexuality and loveless sex, and even more so I resent its association with horrible overprocessed tuneless electronic “music,” meth abuse and drinking. I want a gay pride that is literally just for gay people. No heteros, no transcultists, no booze, no tobacco, no meth, and NO non-acoustic music.

In unrelated news, the Oregon Supreme Court denied review of an Oregon appellate decision upholding the Oregon Bureau of Labor and Industries’ decision that found that Sweet Cakes by Melissa unlawfully discriminated against a lesbian couple for refusing to sell a cake for the couple’s commitment ceremony.

The Liberty Institute released a statement today telling us that the Oregon Supreme Court’s decision will be appealed to the Supreme Court. So, regardless of what the Court does with respect to cert for Arlene’s Flowers on Monday, the Court will have another bite at cert for a Christian Cake Case next Term.

Being able to cite Sweetcakes as a controlling decision on “religious freedom” would be just too delicious, so I kind of hope that the Court will defer Arlene’s Flowers to the next Term and consolidate the cases. [snort]

AKA changing the subject because Steve is right and you know it. Pride became an embarrassment when it became about everybody else but gay people.

Other then the updated references (Trump!), this article would fit right in with similar articles written every year for decades.

So either the decades of article writers are simply wrong with how “everyone else” views pride parades, or we would have achieved full equality in the 70s if we had just dressed in suits and quietly marched all along.

We would have gotten full equality at least a generation earlier without the transcult holding us back. Now that they’ve revealed themselves for the viciously mean-spirited anti-gay anti-feminist bigots that they are, always, have been, and always will be, I’d say that the homocons were right then and right now. Trans is a choice. Gay isn’t. Homosexuality is the only normal form of human sexuality, and I’m tired of being subjected to anything else. I’m tired of being peer pressured into cheerleading gay erasure or be ostracized if I point out its resemblance to ex-gay therapy.

Modern pride parades now have precious little to do with promoting the cause of worldwide gay equality and everything to do with sucking cash out of gullible allies and promoting ex-gay therapy via transcultism. This is why we need to keep gay things gay. We cannot let everything we hold near and dear to us get taken over by anti-gay hetero male pigs in wigs. That’s how they destroyed MichFest. If they can get away with erasing lesbian spaces, what’s to stop them from doing it to gay men?

Turncoat gays who support the Regressive Left are the real Jews for Hitler, who was not exactly a supply-sider or an Israel firster.

More snobbish elitism from the REGRESSIVE RIGHT. Why does the REGRESSIVE RIGHT hate all things decent, holy and pure? Seriously.

If you not live in a trendy, upscale gay neighborhood, pride events are sometimes all that exists. Being gay can still get you fired or beat em in large segments of the country, especially outside of certain comfortable little enclaves.

If you don’t like how your local pride is organized, get involved or shut up or create your own events.

“If you don’t like how your local pride is organized, get involved or shut up or create your own events.”

Oh you mean like the continuing attacks on lesbians by the hetero male oppressor class taking over OUR events without OUR permission? Gay pride is for gay people.

“More snobbish elitism from the REGRESSIVE RIGHT. Why does the REGRESSIVE RIGHT hate all things decent, holy and pure? Seriously.”

“Regressive Right” is a false equivalence made by Regressive Leftists too stupid to come up with their own arguments.

“Being gay can still get you fired or beat em in large segments of the country, especially outside of certain comfortable little enclaves.”

And it can get you killed in countries where Islam is the majority religion, but apparently you’re a racist if you give a shit about gays being murdered if the killers are anything other than white and Christian.

Sometimes people want to focus on local or state concerns, sometimes people do want to focus on the global perspective. If you don’t like how your pride is being organized…..

I can name four organizations that do extensive work on gay rights — from an international perspective. None of them are run by homocons.

–and everything to do with sucking cash out of gullible allies

Well, capitalism being what it is, you probably cannot ban all forms of economic activity at pride. Do you want to?

Stop making excuses for why so-called “allies” are taking the focus off our concerns and are trying to push gay people out of gay spaces. MichFest was neither an isolated incident nor the beginning. Stop with the “don’t like it, do something about it.” I have been trying to get you sheeple to WAKE UP AND SMELL THE GAY GENOCIDE AT THE HANDS OF FALSE ALLIES since the moment I came out of the closet 20 years ago.
