Guy Benson on Being a Gay Conservative

Guy Benson says:

I’m really proud of this video & was so pleased to be invited to contribute to the ‘Prager U’ juggernaut. In this short monologue, I discuss being a right-leaning member of the LGBT community, reject the narrow-minded & limiting tyranny of identity politics, and celebrate genuine progress. Please take less than five minutes to watch it and consider my points. You don’t have to agree with everything — and that’s okay! Thanks…

    Huh? Isn’t he dead already?

    (That’s Lloyd Benson.)

    *Sigh.*

Maybe people could just reject labels and just be people?

The paradox is that by the very act of saying “I am conservative; gay is only one small part of who I am”, you are labeling yourself out of defiance, and thus acting out of self-hatred.

“Exit polling shows that in the last four general elections, between 14 and 29 percent of LGBT voters pulled the lever for the GOP.”

    1) *Facepalm.* Used to be a floor of 23 percent until Trump held a rainbow flag upside down.

    2) And the last time I checked, 2016 was the first election they exit polled LGBT voters. Before it was gay, lesbian, and bisexual voters.

Anyway, the transcript of the video would make a great essay. But in spoken form, it doesn’t come across as persuasive. It’s talking at the audience.

    Exactly.

And, Benson’s claim that he “reject[s] the narrow-minded & limiting tyranny of identity politics” is rich, coming from a Trump/Moore supporter. Apparently, white identity politics isn’t indemnity politics in Benson’s “gay is only a small part of who I am” worldview. What does Benson think “taking our country back” is all about, anyway?

Gay white Americans have more right to this country than homophobic heterosexuals of any race.

Gay leftists sound just like homophobic religious fundamentalists when they attack him.
