LGBT Progressives Want Litmus Test on Friends

Michael Musto writes, What To Do When Your Friend’s a Gay Republican. Answer: drop them.

Similarly, if a real-life friend—someone who knows my plight, my accomplishments, and my oppressions—decides to trumpet in my face the alleged glories of the Republican party, I simply have to show them the hand and the door. Friendship over.

And he adds this bit of brilliance:

There are other icky issues within our own backyard, as longtime performer Penny Arcade astutely points out. Arcade is a bisexual fag hag, who finds that bi people are routinely ignored in the community. (She likens it to being a part Jew who’s Jewish enough for the Nazis, but not enough for the Jews). What’s more, she’s a self-admitted fag hag who’s been diminished for that too, and has lobbied to put an “F” for “fag hag” into LGBTQ.”

Yes, because they’re aren’t quite enough letters in the acronym already.

Here’s a nice counterpoint:

    Meanwhile, in the real world…

I’ve had no problems with friends in the LGBTXYZ community because I’m bisexual. Then again, I hang out with normal people instead of nitwits.

Dating gets a little trickier, though the problem is not that I’m bisexual, but that I’m a libertarian. Encouragingly, an increasing number of conservative/libertarian dating services are opening up online, and all but one of them I’ve checked out include people looking for same-sex partners.

For fear of this sounding like a personal attack…

If you check out Scott Shackford’s article on Reason about Trump’s recent actions regarding trans soldiers, and specifically, check out the comment section, you might get an idea of why gay folks that know enough about libertarians/Libertarians to have an opinion on them don’t generally have a favorable one.

Your fellow travelers aren’t uniformly awful. Some, I assume, are nice people. But there’s enough awful ones that’ll turn-off a lot of folks that might otherwise agree on principle.

far too many libertarians are perfectly happy to back the GOP, as long as they promise to say a few platitudes about Ayn Rand economics.

Republicans continue to labor mightily to destroy our lives, aided and abetted by cowardly quislings who would never dare live outside their comfy Blue enclaves in DC, NYC and LA.

Trump said: “As your president, I will do everything in my power to protect our LGBTQ citizens”

Now the liar has banned transgendered citizens from serving in the military because he’s a lying POS but his devotees think he can do no wrong–like all cult followers.

I think a part that Miller is downplaying is the “trumpet in my face” part.

    1. So, discrimination against gay couples is freedom and should not be questioned or criticized, but discrimination against gay Republicans is unfreedom and should be criticized?!

Where to begin? The ignorance here is abysmal–and utterly inexcusable.

I did not vote for Trump. Neither did nine out of every ten other libertarians I know. Stop letting yourselves be lied to and jerked around about what libertarians do. The smear that we are all exactly like Republicans is false.

Unless you are stupid, you are capable of finding this out.

I had a pretty good idea what Trump would turn out to be like, which is why I didn’t vote for him.

This much stupid does not even deserve a response. Grow up, stop acting like a bunch of seventh-graders and inform yourselves before making damn fools out of yourselves repeating lies and propaganda.

    2. so…”everything in my power” actually means – in alternative fact speak – something like, “Comrade! Let us give thanks to our KGB leader and his deep love of humanity.”

I dated an ex libertarian. I know quite a bit about the right wing bent of the philosophy.

TJ3, you are full of s**t. What you know about libertarians would fit into a thimble with plenty of room to spare.

Every libertarian has had the bizarro-world experience of being lectured by an “expert” like you on what we do or do not believe. Take your pathetic attempts at catechesis and stick them.

I dated a doctor, therefore I know all about medicine.

Your ignorance would be hilarious if it were not so disturbing. Let me guess, a “tolerant” progressive?

One of the most fascinating things about internet trolls is the way they drastically correlate intelligence with political ideology. Intelligence isn’t that important.

Ever since the election, I can no longer talk politics with my best friend, boo-hoo. But he’s still my best friend, and I still talk politics. Life moves on. If you’re both trying to make the world a better place, and one of you leaves the cause you’re working on, you must live life to the fullest, never forget the friends you loved.

Maybe a little off topic but the following was just announced. So much for Trump’s protections for LGBT folks:

On Wednesday evening, the Department of Justice moved to undermine rights for LGBTQ people to ensure they are treated fairly in the workplace. The department filed a brief arguing that prohibition of sex discrimination under federal law does not include the prohibition of discrimination on the basis of sexual orientation.
